ORLANDO, Fla. (November 22, 2021) - Orlando City SC will begin its 2022 Major League Soccer season, presented by Orlando Health, on Sunday, February 27 at Exploria Stadium, set to host CF Montréal in a 1 p.m. ET kickoff. The home opener, also presented by Orlando Health, will serve as the eighth-consecutive year that the Lions will begin their MLS campaign in The City Beautiful. In addition, it was also announced that City will travel to Soldier Field on March 5, the home opener for Chicago Fire FC.

“Playing at Exploria Stadium in front of our fans is special, as they create an incredible game day atmosphere,” Orlando City SC Chairman Mark Wilf said. “We’re excited to kick off the 2022 season at home, and begin our eighth season in Major League Soccer in front of the best fans in the league.”

The Club's annual series of Kickoff to Soccer events leading up to the home opener, presented by Orlando Health, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Led by Head Coach Oscar Pareja, the Lions enter the 2022 campaign looking to build off the most successful season in its history that featured the Club’s second appearance in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and the setting of new Club records, including most points in a single season (51), wins (13), clean sheets (9) and home wins (8).

The 2022 opener will serve as the first time the Lions will face off against CF Montréal to begin their respective MLS campaigns, with City taking a 2-0 victory in the last matchup between the two clubs on Decision Day 2021, a win that put the Lions into the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs. Through its seven previous debut matches, the Club has compiled a 1-0-6 record, looking to remain unbeaten in season openers after battling to a scoreless draw with Atlanta United FC to start 2021.

Following their season opener, the Lions will travel to the Windy City to take on Chicago Fire FC on March 5 in what will serve as the home opener for the Eastern Conference side. That match is slated to take place at Soldier Field at 6 p.m. ET.

The full Orlando City 2022 schedule, including broadcast details, will be released at a later date.
