Your iPhone is an expensive investment — and, as such, it makes sense that you’ll want to prolong its battery and make it last as long as possible. There are plenty of hacks that can boost your battery power, save storage, and make it possible to own a well-working iPhone for months and years longer than you ever thought possible. Jonathan Tian, co-founder of Mobitrix, a US-based smartphone solution provider for data transfer and iOS system errors, provides several amazing tips on what you should be doing to your iPhone every day to extend its battery life. And the first tip is the simplest, and possibly the most effective one you can do right now that will make a huge difference.

Keep An Eye On Screen Brightness

One of the easiest ways to reduce battery power is to dial down the screen brightness and disable location services and background app refresh to keep your battery in good shape, Tian says.

There are plenty of other steps you can take to boost your iPhone’s staying power.

Reduce the amount of storage you have.

“Go to iTunes and search for a movie (with larger file size than the amount of storage you have left), click rent, and you'll get a notice indicating you don't have enough storage and directing you to settings,” Tian says. “You'll receive some storage back if you click that. Repeat the process a total of 4-5 times.”

Update Chargers When Needed.

If your charger is a cheap one that you've come to realize isn't Apple-certified, don't spend another day powering up your device with it. These chargers can often cause more harm than good to your device. Upgrade your charger so that you're only using one from Apple or one that gets Apple's seal of approval. This ensures the charger has the capability to address your iPhone battery's specific charging needs.

Remove all default apps.

Let's face it: you aren't using a lot of your apps — but they are still taking up prime real estate on your phone.

“Hide programs that aren't in use,” Tian says. “While iPhone apps have a lot of features to help us live better lives, you probably don't utilize most of them regularly."

Charge Your Phone More Often.

Instead of waiting until nighttime to give your iPhone one major charging session, get into the good habit of periodically charging your device so that it stays within the sweet zone — that means between 30 and 80 percent battery charge. This helps prolong the life of your battery and is a recommended practice -- more so than letting your phone dip below 10 percent battery or constantly charging it to 100 percent and letting it remain there.
