Disney World Tickets Could Be Unavailable for Purchase on Select Future Dates

It’s the kickoff of Thanksgiving week, which means that we’re in one of the busiest travel seasons at Disney World!

Crowds at EPCOT

There will be thousands of guests visiting the theme parks in the coming weeks during their holiday vacations, and those traveling should expect high crowd levels and wait times. But one thing you may not expect is that you won’t be able to buy park tickets for select dates!

We shared yesterday that Disney World had paused the sale of annual passes during this particularly busy season, with all options unavailable except for the cheapest Disney Pixie Dust Pass for Florida Residents. Now, Disney is also limiting the sale of theme park tickets for select dates throughout the holiday season.

Disney World is limiting ticket sales during the holidays!

If you go to purchase theme park tickets, you’ll notice that the calendar has a few different dates blocked out. For instance, you can’t currently buy theme park tickets for today, tomorrow, or Black Friday, as well as December 28th-30th. This makes sense, as these dates are currently completely booked up for Disney Park Pass availability.

UPDATE: Disney has since added more Park Pass availability in December and January and new ticket sales have resumed.

The parks can get really crowded this time of year!

However, things start to get interesting when you look at multi-day tickets. When we tried purchasing a 3-day ticket for those dates in December, we couldn’t buy it because some of the dates were blocked out.

This was still the case when we changed our dates to only include ONE blocked-out day. We would still be able to use the 3-day tickets on any of the other four days, but Disney still won’t allow you to purchase with that particular start date.

This could get tricky if you’re trying to buy tickets to visit this week. Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday all still have availability, but it looks like you’ll need to purchase two separate tickets if you want to visit all of those days — one 2-day ticket and one 1-day ticket.

UPDATE: Here’s what the calendar looks like now in terms of what dates are unavailable for November…

…and December.

Some guests may also experience issues online with modifying their vacation packages to change their tickets, whether it’s adding more days, changing to Park Hopper, or adding Disney Genie+. In this case, we recommend calling Disney to see what can be done.
