Justin Bieber Urged To Cancel Performance In Saudi Arabia

By Music News Nov 21, 2021 | 6:00 PM

Justin Bieber is being urged not to perform in Saudi Arabia by the fiancé of slain reporter Jamal Khashoggi.

In an open letter published in the Washington Post on Saturday (Nov. 20th), Hatice Cengiz urged the singer to cancel his December 5th show in order to “send a powerful message to the world that your name and talent will not be used to restore the reputation of a regime that kills its critics.”

The Human Rights Foundation also posted billboards in downtown Los Angeles just before the American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 21st). According to TMZ, one ad read, “Bieber, Your Saudi Boss Murders Journalists. Do the Right Thing, Cancel!” Another said, “It's Not Too Late Now to Say Sorry. Don't Sing for Saudi Arabia's Dictator!”

Bieber is set to headline the Formula One Saudi Arabian Grad Prix in the city of Jeddah. Other performers scheduled for the show include rapper A$AP Rocky, DJs David Guetta and Tiesto, and singer Jason Derulo.
