Hollyoaks actress Sarah Jayne Dunn has revealed that she'd like to try out another soap after she exits her role as Mandy Richardson.

It was confirmed earlier this month that Sarah Jayne, who has played Mandy in multiple stints since 1996, would be leaving the Channel 4 soap following a dispute about her decision to share content on the website OnlyFans.

Speaking to Daily Star, Sarah Jayne has now revealed that acting continues to be her main passion and that she'd like to step onto the cobbles of Coronation Street following her exit from Chester.

"I love Corrie. I'm a Northern girl and Coronation Street has always been up there as something I'd love to be part of so that would be great," she said. "I've had other opportunities and doors open since all of this so maybe for now my path is slightly different but I'm happy to see where it takes me for now."

After Sarah Jayne revealed in October that she would now be sharing content on subscription site OnlyFans, Hollyoaks confirmed that, following talks with the actress, she would be leaving the show.

The soap explained in a statement that it does "not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites", adding: "We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans."

Sarah Jayne has now further explained her decision to stick with OnlyFans, saying that she is enjoying "the freedom to be creative to do the images that I want to do under my rules and decisions".

"It's about empowerment and doing it for older women," she said. "You shouldn't be judged on your choices and you should be able to wear what you want. I find it really important to represent the older women."

Before her exit was announced, Sarah Jayne had shared her hopes to have a long-term future on Hollyoaks, saying that the show "feels like home".

"I know the character so well, because I've played her for so long that I can play it without thinking about it," she explained on The Capsule. "I love the people that are there. That is what has always brought me back to Hollyoaks the crew and the cast. It's like going home to family...

Details of an exit for Mandy have not yet been confirmed, but she has recently been involved in a number of dramatic storylines, including her short-lived marriage to Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) and her troubles with her daughter Ella Richardson (Erin Palmer), following Ella's murder of drug dealer Jordan Price.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
