Micah Richards Jokes About Roy Keane Ruining His Chances Of Becoming United Manager

The pair may be friends, but the former City man isn't backing Keane to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Micah Richards had a hilarious response when the topic of Roy Keane becoming Manchester United manager was brought up on Sky Sports yesterday.

The former Manchester City defender is a friend and colleague of Keane's, with the two frequently appearing on Sky together as pundits.

However, when the notion of the Irishman taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was presented, it elicited a tongue-in-cheek reply from Richards.

In the Sky Sports studio on Sunday evening, the former Right-back was joined by Robbie Keane and Jamie Redknapp.

Watch the full interaction for yourself below.

Commenting upon Solskjaer's sacking, who had been unceremoniously let go by United only hours prior, Keane's namesake suggested that "Roy will sort it out."

Redknapp then quipped, "Roy Keane and Gary Neville as his assistant."

This gave Richards a good chuckle, before he fired back with, "He has slagged off half of the [United] dressing room!"

The 33-year-old isn't wrong either, as in recent weeks, the Man United defenders, in particular, have come in for some pretty scathing criticism from Keane.

The one-time United captain recently said "I give up [on these players]" after some pretty lacklustre closing down efforts during the club's 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City.

Suffice to say, few in the Old Trafford dressing room would be doing cartwheels at the news of Keane getting the managers position.

The betting markets don't think it's especially likely either, as the early frontrunners are Mauricio Pochettino, Brendan Rodgers and Michael Carrick.

Thankfully for all of us, it looks like Keane will be staying put on Sky Sports, where he will continue to entertain and enrage in equal measure.
