Bad Bunny Tries Out a Red Carpet Puffer at the American Music Awards

Sure, you expect to see glitzy gowns and suits at a star-studded event like tonight’s American Music Awards, but it’s also a music ceremony, so the dress code is going to be a little more youthful, loose, and wild. The show has a history of producing bold fashion moments—most memorably Britney and Justin’s double denim—and it’s become all about expecting the unexpected. Bad Bunny certainly took this mantra to heart this evening. The rapper tried out a red-carpet ready puffer coat, showing how a cozy, plushy outerwear piece can still be dressy and cool for the paparazzi.

Bad Bunny opted for a head-to-toe minty outfit, slipping into a streamlined cropped puffer coat, paired with a white tank and pastel green trousers. His shoes were also insulated, which made the whole look feel more cohesive. All these pieces are very practical for the winter, but he made them feel high-fashion and carpet-worthy via layered necklaces and sporty, Matrix-style shades.

A quick scan on Twitter shows that his fans were divided on the deliberately comfy-chic look: “I wanna steal Bad Bunny's puffer coat,” commented one fan, while another Twitter spectator wrote, “I know he’s burning up.” We say the look is definitely on fire, but in a good way.
