The LA Angels have already been active in free agency, and it won't stop any time soon.

The team is reported to be in on many major pieces in free agency this offseason, as well as some trade pieces too.

There are so many major free agents available, however, that the Halos are likely not going to be taking all too seriously. There are so many All-Stars, and so many guys who would be impact players on lots of teams available who realistically aren't going to be on the Angels' radar for valid reasons. It's obvious as to who a few of these hot names are, and why they won't be Angels next year.

No. 3 major free agent who definitely will not sign with the LA Angels: Nick Castellanos

It's hard to not marvel at the season Nick Castellanos just had for the Cincinatti Reds this past season. The LA Angels of course could have used that type of production.

An already solid player in general, Castellanos had a career year in 2021, hitting .309/.362/.579 (.939 OPS) with 34 home runs and 100 RBI.

The Angels have the money to sign him, but he plays a position where we already have a lot of money going to. Castellanos is an outfielder, and we already are going to be paying center fielder Mike Trout almost $35.5 million next year, and corner outfielder Justin Upton $28 million. Even if we don't start Upton, we will likely be brining Jo Adell and Brandon Marsh back up to the big leagues, and want to give them playing time and have them develop.

Castellanos has of course played third base before, but we're paying Anthony Rendon $36 million next season to play third base. Castellanos is a tremendous player, but he just wouldn't fit with the current plans of our team.

No. 2 major free agent who definitely will not sign with the LA Angels: Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor is another player who is being heavily sought after by teams right now, but wouldn't work on the LA Angels.

Even though Taylor plays a million different positions, I still can't see the Angels seeing him as a fit. He can play shortstop, but hasn't been primarily a shortstop since 2018. Couple that with the fact that the Angels haven't been connected to Taylor through rumors (despite being connected to many other players already), and we know the Angels aren't going to go down this road.

Taylor is going to charge a hefty sum of money to whoever wants to sign him. He's coming off of an All-Star year. The Dodgers themselves could pay him a lot of money if they choose to.

The Angels should be spending on big-money players that are pitchers, as pitching is and has been the biggest issue for this franchise for seven straight years now.

We're not going to give up a lot of money for Taylor to play the outfield for the same reasons we're not going to be paying Castellanos. We also won't be signing him to play second since we already have a great glove over there. Don't expect the Halos to have Taylor come across the freeway this offseason.

No. 1 major free agent who definitely will not sign with the LA Angels: Zack Greinke

Zack Greinke won't be returning to the LA Angels.

He's already said that he will refuse to sign with an AL team.

I could definitely see a world where the Angels would want a proven veteran leader to be on and work with this staff. There are going to be many young pitchers on the Angels next year, and Greinke would be really important to them.

He also still has a little left in the tank, walking just 1.9 batters per nine innings last year and posting just a 1.170 WHIP. He went 11-6 this year, and pitched 30 times. He's older, but doesn't have any durability issues.

Giving up just two runs in 6.1 innings pitched this last postseason, he showed that he's still one of the more trusted arms in baseball. Unfortunately, the Angels don't have a chance, but there are many other options in free agency for the Angels to look into.

We already brought in Noah Syndergaard, and are reportedly looking into Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray, and Kevin Gausman.

The Halos are going to have a good offseason, it just won't be with these three guys.
