Adam Thielen Moves Into 5th on Vikings Receptions List

MINNEAPOLIS — Adam Thielen's seventh reception of Minnesota's 34-31 win over Green Bay Sunday helped keep the Vikings on the field for a go-ahead score.

It also moved him into fifth on the franchise's all-time receptions list.

Thielen passed former teammate Kyle Rudolph by recording his 454th career reception.

The grab was a gain of 3, but that was all that Minnesota needed on a third-and-3 from the Green Bay 33-yard line with under four minutes to go.

There was no time to celebrate with the Vikings trailing 24-23.

Minnesota reclaimed the lead three plays later when Kirk Cousins got the ball off just before a blitz to Justin Jefferson for a 23-yard touchdown. A 2-point conversion run by Dalvin Cook gave Minnesota a 31-24 edge with 2:17 remaining.

Signed, sealed and delivered, right?

Nope.

Green Bay tied the game on the following snap when Aaron Rodgers connected on a 75-yard touchdown pass to Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

Minnesota's offense returned to the field with 2:08 remaining.

After what was first ruled to be an interception by Darnell Savage was reviewed and reversed, the Vikings didn't get timid.

Cousins moved the chains with a 6-yard pass to Jefferson on second-and-5 before the 2-minute warning. A 19-yard pass to Cook followed before Cousins made an aggressive throw to Thielen along the Packers sideline.

Although cornerback Rasul Douglas was close, the ball made it to Thielen, and he turned up field for a gain of 26 to the Green Bay 19.

Thielen's eighth reception of the game put the Vikings in the driver's seat. Minnesota followed with a 12-yard run by Cook before milking the clock and setting up Greg Joseph's 29-yard field goal.

Thielen entered his 15th Border Battle with 447 career catches, including the first four of his career that were recorded at Green Bay back in 2014.

At 455, the next player on the receptions list is Anthony Carter (in fourth with 478).

Thielen's day also included his 47th career touchdown catch, which ranks sixth. Rudolph ranks fifth with 48. Sammy White is in fourth place with 50, and Anthony Carter ranks third with 52.

Cris Carter is atop the leaderboard with 110, and Randy Moss totaled 92 with Minnesota.
