Back in 2017, the Chicago White Sox made a marvelous trade. Their rebuild was sped up significantly when they sent Jose Quintana to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease, and two other prospects. To say that the White Sox dominated that trade with the Cubs is a complete understatement.

They win the trade with Jimenez along. He is an elite power hitter that has an amazing talent. He is an outstanding baseball player that could hit himself into MVP conversations over the next few years.

It is even better when you look at the development of Dylan Cease. He has emerged as one of the best pitchers that the White Sox have. He is also amongst the best strikeout pitchers in all of Major League Baseball.

When you combine the fact that they got both of them in a trade with the fact that it came with the crosstown rivals, you have a magnificent trade for the good guys. They hope that they can have Cease and Jimenez contributing to their success for a long time.

The Chicago White Sox got a lot back for Jose Quintana in a trade with the Cubs.

Quintana didn’t play as well with the Cubs as they were hoping. He was an average pitcher considering the prospects that they gave up to get him. He looked good for them on paper when the trade was first made but he was never going to live up to the trade. Now, he is making his way around the league.

In 2021, he played his first season away from a team based in Chicago. He started the season with the Los Angeles Angels and then made his way over to the San Francisco Giants where they didn’t use him as much. Now, he has a place to play for 2022.

Quintana has agreed on a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates. It sounds like the deal is going to be worth about two million dollars. That is a good deal for Quintana as he hasn’t pitched very well in a few years.

The Pirates are probably not going to be very good so he is going to get plenty of innings to eat. This is an opportunity for him to try and pitch well again so that he can get traded to a contender by the deadline. If he doesn’t pitch well, this is probably going to be it for him in the MLB. He was a good player for the White Sox back in the day but what he brought them via trade is even better.
