The Mirrorball trophy has been polished, the freestyle routines have been choreographed… and at least one judge has tested positive for COVID-19. Yep, the stage is set for a very unique Dancing With the Stars finale.
The ABC competition series wraps up its 30th season on Monday (8/7c), with only YouTube personality JoJo Siwa, NBA player Iman Shumpert, The Talk co-host Amanda Kloots and Peloton instructor Cody Rigsby poised to potentially succeed Kaitlyn Bristowe as the show’s champion.
But before viewers cast their deciding votes on Monday night, we want your thoughts on who’s likeliest to get a confetti shower at the finale — and who should.
Let’s start with Kloots, who has had an unexpectedly frustrating arc on Season 30. Despite (or perhaps because of?) her dance experience from Broadway and the Radio City Rockettes — a résumé that initially led me to predict Kloots as the Season 30 winner before the cycle began — she’s struggled to win over the judges after even the most technically superb performances. She and pro partner Alan Bersten did eventually receive two perfect scores during the season, but it’s unclear how much Kloots has enchanted the home audience. Plus, Kloots and Bersten have only found themselves in jeopardy of elimination once, but it unfortunately came during the pivotal semifinals broadcast.
Siwa has had a similarly tough time getting voter support: Some Dancing fans (and TVLine readers) have given Siwa side-eye for coming into Season 30 with a significant dance background, and not all voters have been charmed by her historic partnership with Jenna Johnson — the first time two women have ever competed as a couple on the show. On the other hand, Siwa and Johnson consistently earn the highest scores of the night, which could serve them well during the finale, where they’ll perform twice more before the winner is crowned. And though the pair unexpectedly hit the Bottom Two in Week 7, Siwa’s considerable fanbase has seemed to rally around her since then.
Speaking of finalists with big followings, that certainly describes Rigsby, who is very well-liked by the Peloton and fitness communities. Without that support, I’m not sure he’d have survived those shaky opening weeks of Season 30, which included an admirable performance from quarantine after he and partner Cheryl Burke both contracted COVID-19. As past seasons have proven, a large and passionate fanbase can be more than enough to clinch the big win — and as the only finalist who hasn’t received a perfect score yet, Rigsby could need those votes more than his fellow competitors.
Lastly, there’s Shumpert, who is arguably the weakest technical dancer left in the competition, but has nonetheless charmed voters with his charismatic performance style and endearing lack of dance experience. Like Rigsby, Shumpert has never once found himself in jeopardy of going home, which indicates a lot of “IMAN” texts are getting sent to 21523 every week. Plus, even though Shumpert’s ballroom skills leave much to be desired, partner Daniella Karagach has wisely choreographed routines that instead accentuate the NBA player’s physical strength and likable personality; in other words, he’s still pulling in effusive praise and high scores from the judges. With two more opportunities to wow them on Monday, the Season 30 victory could be Shumpert’s to lose.
But for now, let’s get your thoughts. Which Dancing finalist do you suspect will win on Monday, and who should? Cast your votes in our polls below, then drop a comment to elaborate on your choices!
Iman is the most improved with the least dance experience. The other three have extensive dance background that put them at a huge advantage early on. Are they good? Of course, but they are PROFESSIONAL DANCERS so of course they are good! Dancers like Iman and the Miz who improved week to week and were entertaining are who should be in the competition, not those who have danced professionally in the past.
I’m rooting for Iman now. He’s what this show is supposed to be about. Celebrity’s trying something new and growing week to week.
I think it is rigged with JO JO AND JENA getting perfect scores all the time and all the others do just as good if not better I hope AMANDA PULLS IT OFF
Laura I totally agree with you!!
I know she has a significant dance background, but so does Kloots, but Jo Jo Siwa and Jenna are amazing together. First off they are doing something historic and brave and different and after almost 20 years of a show, different is good. But their routines are creative and on fire every time. Honestly this is as large of a difference between the 1 and the rest of the group that I have seen in many years. The 2, 3 , 4 are not even close to as technically good and creative as them. Obviously, all that does not equate to a win. Because on finale night most couples get 30s and it seems Iman and Cody have big fan following as they have not been in Bottom 2. So they could pull it out if they get similar scores with Jojo. Which would b pretty disappointing to say the least.
JoJo and Jenna are nothing short of all-around amazing! I have been rooting for/supporting them all season and will be extremely disappointed if they don’t emerge victorious in the finale.
Sure they are good, but Jojo is an experience dancer that’s her life. She should not qualify to win
as jojo has said in many interviews yes she is a dancer but this is ballroom dance which she has 0 experience with and to quote jojo further it would be like if a football player played baseball completely different she also has specifically said that she hadn’t danced in years
i think jojo and jenna should definitely win
my sister and i have even agreed that if jojo doesn’t win that it’s homophobic
Saying that is just your way to justify why she wouldn’t win. That’s a low blow. Jojo does have dance experience and should have not been invited on the show, just like Amanda Kloots and all the others who have dance dance backgrounds. That’s not what this show was about when it first started.
Agree!
I AGREE
The show has already decided who will win. I stopped watching it because of that
Yep. It was set up from the start.
Agree 💯. Doesn’t stop me from hoping Amanda pulls off the upset
Hoping for the same.
Great that Iman won!. He persevered. Through his tall height and least dancing experience to begin with.
Had probably the best dances ever on the show with that amazing Halloween US dance, plus final dance which blew everyone away. With amazing choreography from Daniella. To win with such a height difference and really bringing Iman so far.
All the choreography for all the stars were very good.
I agree with Laurie it was decided at the beginning
Sorry, I don’t care who JoJo dances with or what her preferences are, she’s almost a professional dancer and her fan base is obviously a powerhouse, not to mention the judges are smitten with her, over-scoring sometimes. Amanda also has lots of dance experience but for some reason her proficiency is more appealing. Iman is a very pleasant personality and seems to be a nice person but a dancer he is NOT. Cody has come on strong in the final stretch but I don’t think he deserves the mirrorball. I’m sorry Melora was voted out. Both she and Suni Lee were very appealing dancers.
Melora and Suni Lee should be in the finals, replacing those two men, one of whom is only adequate and the other who should have left long ago.
Yep. To me it should have been Suni or Melora; I can’t believe they were voted off
Another agreement that Melora and Suni should’ve been there, and then I would’ve wanted Suni to win, but would’ve been happy with any of the four.
JoJo and Jenna DESERVE TO WIN therefore I certainly hope JoJo and Jenna WILL WIN!! 💃💃
I FULLY AGREE
i hate that they had Jo Jo dance with a female!!! We have never seen the (many!!!) gay male dancers paired with another man
I love that she is paired with another female and I hope we see males paired together soon too. It happened in the UK version this past year with two guys.
Gotta be JoJo. They dance so well together. I never see faults, yet sometimes the judges don’t go as high as they should.
The couple who should win left last week – so who actually wins is irrelevant.
Iman is not a dancer. All others are dancers in some capacity. Starting from ground zero should make Iman the winner.
Iman should win, but we all know JoJo is gonna win just for her popularity and huge fan base.
It should have been Melora. Time to make viewers vote count as 1/4.
No way,the judges are on crack too. Giving all 10s in the finale is nonsense.
I so wanted Melora in there!
But I know some others have big bases…. like Cody Rigsby has a lot of Peloton fans. And I like him, I’m not bashing it, I just think Melora didn’t have the same type of fanbase that he or JoJo have.
Dancers should not be allowed. I love Amanda but she is a dancer. JoJo has been a dancer since she’s a little girl & still is a damcer
I think the young and very accomplished celebrity dancer who should both win the most coveted mirrorball trophy and who’ve won over everyones hearts is the 18 year old JoJo Siwa she had out danced every single celebrity dancer on DWTS Season 30 she
is just pure perfection and has the most ambiguous smile that just lights up the
whole ballroom she is so lucky and happy
to dance with Jenna Chmerkovski as her
professional dancer, life coach and best
friend that she can count on and trust.
JoJo should definitely win tonight show’s mirrorball trophy and nobody yes I mean nobody would never Rain on her Parade same with taking her trophy that mirrorball trophy’s hers to win and hers alone she’ll show both Iman, Cody and Amanda who’s boss so bye bye to both Iman, Cody and Amanda
Well It seems she d shoo anyone who’s boss. 😂🤣😂🤣
I don’t care. Our household used to watch the show religiously but when they fired Tom and Erin and hired Tyra, it was shocking and disappointing. And the constant wardrobe changes that Banks does during the show are ridiculously silly and the gowns she wears are horribly ugly. It’s not a fashion show and I think we could do with just one or two changes throughout the show. Since the host change we usually watch something else and only catch it when flipping through the channels. I’m my opinion the show is going downhill and with all due respect to the contestants and judges, we couldn’t care less about the show anymore.
Totally agree with u about her outrageous costumes. She bought this show, guess she can do what she pleases, even if it is STUPID!!!!
JoJo and Jena are the best dancers and work together. They deserve the win.
This show use to be a favorite. With Tyra hogging air time and cutting off judges in midspeach, I have been turned off. Disappointed also of the unfair advantage contestants with prior dance experience are allowed to compete with others who have never danced. Go Iman!
Iman is the most improved with no dance experience. The others have professional dance experience. I’m voting for Iman.
Melora Hardin should have won. She was the most improved but the judges will make sure Jojo will when. Not sure how fair it is that a contestant on DWTS has her own dancing show teaching young girls how to dance…
Amanda all the way. She and Alan are the best.
Duh, who will win? One of the 2 contestants who are professional dancers will win – but man, would I love to see Iman win. He is the spirit of DWTS in my opinion.
Jojo was a ringer, and for that I don’t want her to win.
WOW! Here I am watching me all time favorite show!!!!
It was all about learning to dance ballroom without any dance experience! Such a incredible show, how I have to ask is please go back to the original way of ballroom dance of experience stars even older people know!!!eTHANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS DHOW!!!
With the exception of the last two shows (when many complained about it) Amanda has been critized, nitpicked and never gotten the praise she deserved for the beautiful performances she gave. We watched as other dancers were praised for dances far less perfect or artistic. Suddenly, the pair got recognition for their dancing for two weeks straight. Then tonight, the ladies of the panel gave 9s and men gave 10s. I’m amazed that Cody gave a 10 performance compared to Amanda, Carrie Ann. Really? I’m not even touching the ladies of dance. They are very good. They aren’t that much better than any performance that Amanda has given. Both JoJo and Amanda have dance experience. Neither in ballroom. That arguement was dead long ago. Iman has grown so much as a dancer. His performance was wonderful!
I’m still in Amanda’s camp. I wish the judges had been more fair in their assessment.
Looking at Iman tonight – if he took home the mirror ball it wouldn’t upset me at all. At least they would be judging him right.
I think this show is bout ppl learnin to dance. When some have a dancing back ground an others dont then that makes a difference
I’m am so disappointed in JoJo. She was a presenter on the music awards show last week to promote herself as the winner on this season! Not fair it all to the other semi finalists!! She should be disqualified!!!
The finalist was picked and I was stunned! JoJo should have won. How can you compare the winner to JoJo or the other finalists?
Please pick future contestants who are not dancers and let the judges pick the winners. Not fair when the fan base votes regardless of their favorite’s dance abilities.
I thought Iman made the greatest improvement, plus the most talked about routines with the US Halloween and his final dance. I was more impressed by him then Jojo. ( she was great with her partner) but Iman was the bomb. His partner worked miracles and made the very tall man a great dancer by the end.
