Just after fans were delivered a suspenseful Season 1 cliffhanger, Netflix has renewed Riot Games’ League of Legends animated series Arcane for a second season.

Riot Games and Netflix broke the news on Saturday during the two-day Undercity Nights events. Stars Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell and Katie Leung are planned to return for Season 2, which is currently in production, as Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn Kiramman, respectively.

The series premiered earlier this month and is set in the utopian region of League of Legends realms Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun.

Animated by Fortiche Productions, Arcane follows the origins of popular League champions sisters Jinx and Vi as they seek to reunite. In their way is a dark power consuming the world of Arcane that promotes violence and chaos, threatening to keep the sisters apart.

Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Jason Spisak, Toks Olagundoye, JB Blanc and Harry Lloyd also voice characters in the show.

“We’re beyond happy about the positive response to Arcane‘s first season and are working hard with the creative wizards at Riot and Fortiche to deliver our second installment,” said co-creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee.

“I really feel confident in the statement that everyone that works on these things feels like they’re working on the most important thing they’ve ever done in their craft,” said Linke, previously noting that the Netflix show serves as a “love letter” from Rioters to League players.

Arcane is Riot Games’ first foray into television, developed and produced in partnership with Fortiche Productions. Arcane also premiered overseas on Tencent Video in China.
