Flames, Bruins look to keep streaks going

The Calgary Flames (10-3-5) and Boston Bruins (9-5-0) each should be feeling pretty good when they hit the ice at TD Garden (7 p.m. ET; SN360, SNE, SNW, NESN, ESPN+, NHL LIVE). The Flames won 5-2 against the New York Islanders on Saturday and have points in five straight games (3-0-2). The Bruins won 5-2 at the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, their third straight victory. Boston has scored 15 goals during its winning streak, with just four coming from their top line of Brad Marchand (two), Patrice Bergeron (one) and David Pastrnak (one), which coach Bruce Cassidy sees as a positive. "Not saying always by committee, you expect your top guys and power play to perform, but the secondary scoring has to come," he said Saturday. Flames forward Andrew Mangiapane scored two goals against the Islanders and has 14 this season, tied with Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin for second in the NHL, behind Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (18). -- Adam Kimelman, deputy managing editor

His former team will be looking to end a five-game losing streak, including its home opener, 5-2 to the Flames on Saturday. The Islanders (5-7-2) were missing six players due to COVID-19 (forwards
