Former Vice President Mike Pence is headed back to New Hampshire in December to speak at a major fundraiser for the New Hampshire State Senate Republicans.
Senate President Chuck Morse confirmed to WMUR that Pence will headline the event on Dec. 8. The fundraiser will be held in Manchester, with details to be announced.
Pence is in the discussion as a possible presidential candidate in 2024 as he has been traveling throughout the country this year to promote Republicans running in the 2022 midterm elections.
He last visited New Hampshire on June 3, when he headlined the Hillsborough County Republican Committee Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in Manchester.
At that event, he made his most extensive comments to date on the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol building and his disagreement with former President Donald Trump over Pence's authority to halt the certification of the results of the November 2020 presidential elections.
"I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on that day," Pence said at the time.
Morse, meanwhile, told WMUR in a statement:
“It’s great to have former Vice President Mike Pence back in the Granite State and we’re thrilled that he is helping the New Hampshire Senate Republicans’ efforts to maintain the majority we won in a hard fought 2020 campaign."
Republicans flipped the state Senate in 2020 and hold a 14-10 majority.
"Everything coming out of Washington is a disaster," Morse said, "and the Biden administration is taking us in the wrong direction. It will be refreshing to hear former Vice President Mike Pence’s perspective and insight into what needs to be done to get our nation headed back in the right direction.”
Morse has confirmed to WMUR that he is eyeing a possible run for the U.S. Senate in 2022. The fundraiser, however, is for the state Senate Republican political action committee and is unrelated to a possible Morse U.S. Senate candidacy.
