SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Penn State women's hockey team fell in its second game of the series against Syracuse in a 6-3 loss Saturday afternoon at the Tennity Ice Pavilion.
Penn State (7-5-2, 4-2-0 CHA) wound up earning a road split after its 1-0 overtime victory the night before and remain atop the CHA standings with Syracuse (5-6-2, 4-2-0 CHA).

Carrie Byrnes (Eden Prairie, Minn.),
Mallory Uihlein (Edina, Minn.) and
Lexi Bedier (Calgary, Alberta).
Syracuse's Victoria Klimek scored a hat trick to power Syracuse's win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Penn State got the first goal of the game 4:18 into the game thanks to
Carrie Byrnes. She carried the puck with speed down the left wing and wristed a quick shot into the cage to make it 1-0 Nittany Lions.
The Orange wound up tying the game a little over a minute later. Victoria Klimek's score on the power play knotted the game right back up at 1-1.
The second period went to Syracuse as they rattle off three goals in the frame. Klimek found the back of the net a second time to give the Orange the lead 6:05 into the second.
2:25 later, Madison Primeau added to the Syracuse lead with another power-play goal to make it 3-1. Anna Leschyshyn tacked on another at the 13:10 mark to give the Orange a commanding three-goal lead into the second intermission.
Syracuse wasn't finished with the scoring yet as Sarah Marchand scored the fifth goal of the game for the home team at 3:59 in the third period to make it 5-1 Orange.
Penn State managed to stop the bleeding with 11:22 to play after a solid offensive zone shift that resulted in a goal.
Mallory Uihlein ripped a one-timer from the right point through traffic for her fourth of the season to cut the deficit back to three goals.
With an extra attacker on the ice trailing by three with 2:46 remaining, the Nittany Lions picked up another score on a great backdoor play with Bedier netting her second of the season. Penn State trailed 5-3 at that point and there just wasn't enough time left for the Nittany Lions to continue the comeback.
Syracuse added an empty netter with one second left by Klimek to complete her hat trick and end the game 6-3.

The Nittany Lions head to Washington, D.C. for D1 in D.C. next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26-27. Penn State will play Minnesota Duluth on Friday and Ohio State Saturday.
