Steve Bruce would be 'very keen' on an interim role at Manchester United and believes he would be able to stabilise the dressing room if he takes over.
After weeks of speculation surrounding his future, it was confirmed on Sunday morning that Solskjaer's time at Old Trafford was officially up following their 4-1 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road.

The club confirmed in a statement that Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games but United will ultimately seek to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season.
So who will take charge until the end of the campaign?
A number of high-profile names have been linked with the role, including former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, who is the bookies favourite after The Glazer family instructed club officials to try and persuade him to take over mid-season.

Luis Enrique has also been linked with the role, with Cristiano Ronaldo giving the former Barcelona manager his blessing to become the new manager at Old Trafford, according to Sky Sports, who claim United are expected to consider him as a possible replacement.
And to the surprise of many, Steve Bruce's name has been mentioned after he left his role at Newcastle.
In fact, The Athletic report that the 60-year-old would be 'very keen' on the role.
Sol Campbell believes Bruce could be a potential interim option for Manchester United as they look to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The former Arsenal centre-back believes bringing him to the club on a six-month deal could be an option.
"I think it's a sticky situation really," Campbell told Premier League Productions. "Do they stick or move? If they move it's costing a lot of money.
"To move Ole on and to bring someone in, it's a lot of money. I know they've got a lot of money to spend but you've got to look at the books and you've got to look at where they are.
"Maybe is a Steve Bruce good? For just six months? I don't know. Who knows?

"But it's a real kind of sticky wicket big time, because either they stick or move. Whatever they do, it might be the wrong answer."
Back in October, just days after his 1000th game as a manager ended in defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, it was confirmed that Bruce had left his position at Newcastle by mutual consent.
Days later, he dropped a hint that he may retire following a tough spell at St James' Park.

"I think this might be my last job. It's not just about me; it's taken its toll on my whole family because they are all Geordies and I can't ignore that," Bruce told The Telegraph.
"They have been worried about me, especially my wife Jan. I'm 60-years-old and I don't know if I want to put her through it again.
"We've got a good life so, yeah, this will probably be me done as a manager - until I get a phone call from a chairman somewhere asking if I can give them a hand. Never say never, I've learnt that."
Bruce made a total of 414 appearances for Manchester United during a nine-year spell. He won 12 trophies, including three Premier League titles and three FA Cups.
