The Detroit Red Wings find themselves on a three-game losing streak for the second time this season, and try to end their rough road trip on a high note when they take on the struggling Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night.
So far, on this four-game road trip that has seen them head out west for the first time this season, the Wings have dropped their first three outings, and have given up five goals in each. This also includes a 5-2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night. Detroit was outshout once again, and giving up four goals in the second period certainly did not help either. The bright spots came when Giavani Smith netted his fourth career goal, before Joe Veleno added his second of the season, However, it was not enough as the Red Wings find themselves below the .500 mark of the first time since the first week of November.

Yet, the Red Wings have a good shot to break their schneid when they take on the worst team in the NHL at the moment. The Coyotes come into Saturday with a 2-13-2 record this season, and are one of three teams to have less than 10 points so far this season. Yet, as crazy it may seem, Arizona has earned points in back-to-back games, as they beat the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, before losing in a shootout to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.
This will be the first meeting between the two franchises since they met in Detroit back in December of 2019. It will also be the Red Wings’ first trip to Glendale since March of the 2018-19 season.
