Women's Hockey Suffers Series Sweep at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team suffered its second consecutive 4-3 loss to Wesleyan on Saturday evening.
 
The Polar Bears open the season at 0-2-0 (0-2-0 NESCAC). The Cardinals earn the sweep and are 2-0-0 (2-0-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Wesleyan scored first with 4:24 remaining in the first period.
  • Bowdoin took the lead in the second with a pair of quick power play goals. Jane McCarter put the Polar Bears on the board at 1:55 and Izzi Stoddard made it 2-1 a minute and a half later.
  • The Cardinals answered with a trio of second period goals, heading into the final period leading 4-2.
  • Bowdoin found a late power play goal in the final frame off the stick of Gia Massari, but couldn't cut into the deficit further.
 
By the Numbers
  • Bowdoin went 3-for-5 on the power play. Wesleyan went 1-for-5 on the power play.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber made her first collegiate start and made 28 saves.
  • Rei Halloran made 31 saves for Wesleyan.
