More than 30 high school robotics teams from around the state competed at Weston High School this weekend at the annual VEX Robotics Tournament.
This was the first tournament the Weston robotics program has participated in this season.
The program's head coach Rebecca Kaplan says the event is about more than just winning.
"In general, it's more about the experience and the educational outcome of this, the teamwork,” Kaplan says. “A lot of these kids have been on the team for more than six years and they're finally able to see their counterparts and friends on the opposing team in the last two years— they haven't seen them for two years."
Winners will compete in the Southern New England Regional Championship.
A smaller event for middle school teams was scheduled for Sunday.
