EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders star Max Bowden has revealed what's next for Ben Mitchell and Callum Highway, following the good news that they've won a big award.

Digital Spy can exclusively reveal that Ben and Callum have won the Feel-Good Moment prize at the Inside Soap Awards 2021. The gong is in recognition of their heartwarming wedding scenes, which aired in May.

The couple's ceremony was in the running alongside seven other touching moments from the soap world over the past year, including Carla and Peter Barlow's wedding in Coronation Street and the Emmerdale Pride event.

Speaking about the Ballum victory, Max commented: "In a year that's been so utterly atrocious for so many people, it's nice to be accredited for something positive.

"And that episode was certainly one that we put so much into. That was the first cohort that Tony [Clay, who plays Callum] and I have been a part of, and it gave us a chance to really act again together. It was lovely.

"I think their relationship speaks to the everyman, especially in the LGBTQ+ community. It's two working class boys drawn together by similarities, not differences. And I think everyone's got a similar story to that at some point in their life."

Discussing the future, he added: "I think the next 12 months are going to be very strained. There are going to be several moments that test their love for each other, and their ability to care for each other. So watch this space!"

This is the second year in a row that EastEnders has won Inside Soap's Feel-Good Moment prize. In 2020, Walford's Pride event was the big winner in the category.

Inside Soap's executive editor Gary Gillatt added: "This award is a tribute to the popularity of Ben and Callum and their heartwarming romance. While soaps are fuelled by tears and tragedy, this reminds us that everyone still loves a good love story!"

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Coronation Street had won the Best Storyline prize at the Inside Soap Awards for the Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin hate crime plot.

The rest of the winners will be announced in the next issue of the magazine, which is out on Tuesday, November 23.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
