WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS OUT OF WALNUT HILLS EMERGENCY CREWS ARE ON THE SCENE OF AN OVERNIGHT FIRE THIS FIRE. SO MASSIVE AT TIMES DRIVERS ON 71 COULD SEE IT FROM THE HIGHWAY WLWT NEWS 5’S RICHARD CHILD’S LIVE FOR US. ON THE SCENE WITH THE LATEST FROM OFFICIALS RICHARD. GOOD MORNING. EL MEGAN GOOD MORNING. THIS GROUP IS FIRE BREAKING OUT AROUND 2 O’CLOCK THIS MORNING A VERY STUBBORN BLAZE GETTING A CHANCE TO TALK WITH FIRE DISTRICT CHIEF LOU ARNOLD TAKING A LOOK THIS 1907 BUILDING. IT’S A BRICK BUILDING MULTIPLE STORIES MULTIPLE UNITS. IT WAS VACANT AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, BUT CWSRE STILL PUTTING A LOT OF WATER ON THE EXPOSURES GETTIN AG CHANCE TO SEE THESE AERIAL UNITS WORKING YOU GET AN IDEA THAT CRUISE IMMEDIATELY MADEHE T DECISION TO GO DEFENSIVE NOW TALKING TO DISTRICT CHIEF. HE DESCRIBEST I AS A ONE ALARM BRINGING ABOUT 45 PERSONNELND A THREE AERIAL LADDER TRUCKS ALONG WITH ENGINE COMPANIES FROM MULTIPLE UNITS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. LOTS OF PERSONNEL REMAIN ON THE SCENE. WE SHUT DOWNLL A THE LESIN TO LET IT BURN THROUGH THE ROOF BECAUSE WE HAD LIMITED ACCESS. WE ONLY HAD ACCESS TO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING OF THREE SIDES WERE NOT AVAILABLE TO US. NOW AINGA THAT LIMITED ACCESS THAT DISTRICT CHIEF LOU ARNOLD TALKED AUTBO AGAIN HAMPERED THAT FIREFIGHTING EFFORTS CREWS ABLE TO PUT A LOT OF WATER ON THIS BLADES AGAIN THREE. AERIAL TOWERS WORKING SIMULTANEOUSLY POUNDING AOT L OF WATER ONTO THOSE EXPOSURES. AGAIN, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THE ILBUDING WAS VACANT AND HAS BEEN FOR SEVERAL SEVERAL YEARS. Fire crews are working to put out flames after a fire broke out at a vacant building in Walnut Hills Sunday.The fire started around 2 a.m. when crews were called to a one-alarm fire at the building on May and Oak streets. The fire so massive at times -- drivers on I-71 could it from the highway. The building that has been around since the early 1900s has been vacant for years. District Chief Lou Arnold said 45 firefighters and 3 ladder trucks came out to put out the flames. He said since it's an old building, they had to attack the fire in a unique way. "We shut down all the lines to let it burn through the roof because we had limited access. We only had access to the front of the building. The other three sides were not available to us," Arnold saidNo one was injured in the fire.The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
