QUOTABLES

St. Cloud State Women's Hockey Head Coach Steve Macdonald

"It's always special to be part of an event like this and raise awareness for different causes like the Hockey Hall of Fame, ALS and Women's Hockey. For us to be a part of it is always special, we've been a part of it in the past and we're grateful that we get to do it again. It's a fun atmosphere and there's a little bit of hardware at the end that we got to play for, which makes it fun in the middle of the season. We were happy to be a part of it.

On the Huskies' defense… "I thought we did well when we were able to get out and engage in our one-on-ones. When we're able to engage physically, stick on puck, give them a little bump and disrupt some of their momentum. That allows us to create a turnover and get the loose puck. When we weren't able to do that it created some momentum for them and they're a team that has a high volume of shots. They have some extremely talented players and some shooters that will take that extra space. When we were able to get out and take that time and space away, we found success. We just need to be more consistent with that."

On Mackenzie Bourgerie scoring her fourth goal of the season… "She's a player that finds ways to get goals. Sometimes they're not pretty, and she's a gritty player that's able to find those moments. She's been doing that for us and she continues to work on her game to become more well-rounded. That will come with more and more experience, she's becoming a really nice player for us."

On individual standouts… "Today there was a few. Nicole Ness – I thought she had a really solid weekend, she was physical, she was on pucks and was able to create a lot of energy. Addi Scribner continued her good play as well at center. That line as a whole was able to create some really good energy. On the back end we have some young pups starting to play into more minutes, and Taytum Geier was just so consistent for us. She showed that yesterday and today. Jenniina Nylund's line, Taylor Lind with a couple points yesterday and Emma Gentry with a goal. We're finding some chemistry with those players. Getting Klara Hymlarova back and her looking like her old self creating opportunities was positive. You can go up and down the lineup and I think people are contributing. We just need to be more consistent."
