Level 5’s Fantasy Life Online shutting down in Japan, but a global version may be coming soon

It’s the end of a short era for one mobile MMO, as Level 5 announced that it’ll be closing down Fantasy Life Online next month on December 15th in Japan. You may recall (if your memories are better than ours) that this entry into the Fantasy Life franchise opened its doors in Japan back in 2018.

“Since launch, we have strived to achieve our goal of operating a game that players can enjoy, but have come to the conclusion that it will be difficult to provide satisfactory service going forward, and have thus decided to end service,” Level 5 said.

This announcement possibly throws up into the air the recently announced global launch of the game, which is being handled by Boltrend Games. That version just wrapped up a closed beta test, signifying that a release wasn’t too far away. Hopefully for fans, it’ll still happen.
