GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is kind of a mess. As we wrote in our review, there are a lot of issues — bugs, glitches with character models, problems with in-game weather, and lots more.

On Friday, Rockstar issued a statement on the current state of the game and the “unexpected technical issues” that arose when it released. I don’t know how these were unexpected, but whatever.

Rockstar promised a title update in the coming days to address a number of the issues plaguing the game, and it seems we didn’t have to wait long. Title Update 1.02 is now live on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. As you can imagine the patch notes are pretty lengthy.

On all platforms, we have fixes for localization issues, missing or misaligned collision, holes in the map, incorrect subtitles, camera clipping, misplaced objects, character models in cutscenes and skipped, delayed or repeated audio lines.

There are also fixes specific to each game in The Trilogy. Most of these address problems that pop up during missions and occasionally some system crashes.

For GTA III: The Definitive Edition there are fixes for blurry camera cuts and transitions, issues where missions would fail during cutscenes or at random moments (specifically The Thieves and Last Requests), other various issues where missions would incorrectly behave (Cutting the Grass, Escort Service, Big ‘n’ Veiny, and more). On Xbox, there is a fix for a problem that was causing hte game to crash after completing Triad War.

For GTA: Vice City, we’ve got fixes for multiple GPS routes during the missions Gun Runner and Psycho Killer, the Hit Rate UI for Gun Runner and peds incorrectly appearing during The Chase. Tomy Vercetti’s T-Pose during the cutscene for In the beginning has been addressed.

On Nintendo Switch, your language change settings will finally be retained. On Xbox, you should no longer see the error message: ” “Error: Out of video memory trying to allocate a texture! Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution.”

And lastly, for GTA: San Andreas, its more of the same. Fixes with the rain visual effects, problems with various missions and tons more. On Xbox, pedestrian weapon accuracy and floating Police Offers have been fixed.

Basically, today’s Title Update is a massive list of fixes for a lot of the glaring issues that have tarnished GTA: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition. Check out the full patch notes here.

As a reminder, Rockstar is restoring the classic PC versions of GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas back to the Rockstar Store as a bundle. Anyone who purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for PC from the Rockstar Store through June 30, 2022 will receive these classic versions for free.
