Ammu-Nation Rifle Range Missions
The GTA Vice City Rifle Range is a short mission that’s more like a fun diversion than a side quest. You’ll need to shoot fast and precise to clear this one, and it may take a bit of practice. This guide to the Rifle Range mission in Vice City covers how to start the mission and how to get a high score, in addition to an update for the GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition release for Xbox, PC, Switch, and PS5.
How to Start the Rifle Range Mission
You can only start Vice City’s Rifle Range at the Downtown Ammu-Nation location. Stand at the counter as if you’re going to make a purchase, and you’ll see a prompt appear telling you how to start the mission. The prompt won’t appear at the other three Ammu-Nation locations.
Make your way to the range, and sit through the extended introduction. The camera switches to first person, and then the targets start appearing once the timer countdown begins.
How to Complete Ammu-Nation Rifle Range
Your goal is scoring at least 45 points in two minutes by shooting the moving targets that slide in and out of view. Completing the challenge only requires 30 points, but it won’t count towards 100% completion unless you earn 45 or more.
Each target has five segments, and you’ll need to shoot all five to score points. The challenge only gives you 100 rounds of ammunition, so make sure to aim carefully.
How many points you earn depends on which targets you shoot.
- Closest target: 1 point
- Middle target: 2 points
- Furthest target: 3 points
Ideally, you want to hit the furthest and middle targets. The closest one moves quickly, but it’s better to wait until it’s beyond your line of site so you can shoot the more valuable targets. That way you earn more points without wasting ammo.
Rifle Range Rewards
Getting a score of at least 30 earns you $500 and, as mentioned, scoring 45 or higher is required for 100% completion in Vice City.
