In the latest TV ratings, 20/20‘s profile of Jennifer and Jordan Turpin, sisters who for years suffered years of torture at their parents’ hand, delivered 7.1 million total viewers and a 0.9 demo rating, surging week-to-week to hit season highs and dominate Friday in both measures.
Opening ABC‘s night, Shark Tank (4.2 mil/0.6) rose to hit and tie season highs.
Over on Fox, Friday Night SmackDown (1.9 mil/0.5) dipped.
Leading out of a S.W.A.T. rerun, CBS’ Magnum P.I. (5 mil/0.4) and Blue Bloods (5.6 mil/0.4) both dropped some viewers while steady in the demo.
Elsewhere, NBC’s The Wall (2.2 mil/0.3) was down a bit in audience while The CW’s Nancy Drew (366K/0.0) added some eyeballs.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Warning: Contents may be hot!
Diane Sawyer’s 20/20 interview with Jordan and Jennifer Turpin was riveting and almost too heartbreaking to contemplate. Riverside County officials have a heckuva lot of explaining to do and moral/financial obligations to meet regarding the 13 Turpin siblings. Over a quarter million dollars in donations still ‘unavailable’ almost 4 years later? Some of the siblings remain hungry and living in substandard conditions and dangerous environments? I hope ABC continues to investigate these injustices.
You said everything I thought. The system is nearly as much of a monster as the parents.
And these kids were part of a high profile case!!! Imagine the treatment of kids who have no advocates or people who might be curious as to where they are now.
I turned this off because it reminded me of why I don’t do GoFundMe donations! These kids have been exploited and let down by adults!
There is something sketchy going on and more investigation is needed. Good grief give that young man a bike! This broke me heart. These young women are so sweet and lovely, even after everything. They are amazing. Now for FFS investigate the real estate agent who controls their money, because something tells me she’s done something with their money.
I wonder if this young man received his bike?
The Turbin children story was beyond disturbing. To think that parents could put their children through such horrendous treatment.
It was great seeing this two young women having passed through their experiences with their parents….can’t understand why parents didn’t care for their children??? However the government didn’t care for them
Shame SHAME hoping for all the siblings be together and been help with love and financial support.
PLEASE, ABC, continue to follow up on this case. It is so sad what these children have gone through to now go through “nobody cares”. Find out what happened to the money that was donated on their behalf and why they were not allowed access to it. Please hold people accountable!
The 7 adult Turpin children lived next door to us for a year following their release from the hospital. The house was large and beautiful, with 2 acres of trees and grass. Quite private. The children were small, and child like. I couldn’t believe they were adults. The county had a “caregiver” with them 24/7. Sadly, we didn’t know what happened to them after May 2019, when they left our neighborhood. We are angry with our county for the treatment they have received since then. I truly hope ABC refuses to take “NO” for an answer, and helps uncover the incredible mismanagement of THEIR money. Also, many, many businesses offered FREE goods and services for them!! Looks like the county failed to connect the kids with these offers.
Am I the only one that thinks that the one Turpin sister looks just like Amber Heart? These are the most beautiful woman. I hope all the kids are we
Please let me know how I can help. Literally sickened by this fact. I can be a big sister, a confidante, organize a fundraiser. Whatever the need. I am not rich but I am determined. The system has failed them twice. We need to show them how much they matter. How great life can be. How great God can be! I’ll do anything to assist.
Keep the investigative pressure on these so called child care workers. Darkness hates the light and how these kids have been handled since being rescued is dark !! We have to do much better for this family. Where is the donated money ?? Lets see some people fired for over seeing these kids in such a non caring way. Also, 20/20, give us some up dates on this story for the next few years. This is how tv programs can really help.
