Intel Arc Alchemist struggles to best the GeForce RTX 2060 in leaked Geekbench OpenCL benchmarks, but poor performance is likely down to low test clockspeeds

@BenchLeaks recently spotted OpenCL benchmarks, running on what appear to be an Intel Arc Alchemist GPU with 512 Execution Units. Due to unusually low clockspeeds in the test runs, though, the Intel card struggled to best even the GeForce RTX 2060.

@BenchLeaks recently spotted OpenCL benchmark listings for what appears to be an Intel Arc Alchemist GPU undergoing performance testing. The card, described alternately as "OpenCL HD Graphics" and "Intel Xe Graphics" features 512 Execution Units (EUs), in line with earlier Alchemist performance leaks. The purported Arc Alchemist card ran at just 1329 MHz, and scored up to 69920 across four OpenCL benchmark runs.

These numbers are interesting for two reasons. Firstly, earlier OpenCL benchmark numbers for a 512 EU Alchemist part were much lower, at around 34K. This could be because earlier leaks looked at mobile Alchemist parts while we're looking at a higher-clocked desktop card here.

Secondly, despite the gains over earlier Alchemist benches, the current leak positions the Arc Alchemist somewhere in the vicinity of the GeForce RTX 2060, a far cry from claims that Intel's new GPU will be competing with the likes of the GeForce RTX 3070 and 3080. It's important to note, however, that clockspeeds were unusually low during the test runs - the Alchemist will likely run at 2 GHz-plus in its retail iteration, meaning that real-world performance could be 50-60 percent higher than what we're seeing here.
