New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter won five MLB World Series titles in the Bronx. Jeter has a Yankees resume as long as the Empire State Building is tall. So it was a bit of a head-scratching moment when MLB free agent Carlos Correa, who was rumored to be on the Yankees radar, criticized the franchise's most beloved player for his defense.

Well, Derek Jeter had the perfect response to what Carlos Correa said.

What a classic Derek Jeter response. Straight out of the New York public relations playbook, Jeter makes a slightly self-deprecating joke, doesn't act like he cares too much about what Correa said, then proceeds to drop the no-so-subtle hint that he could totally say things about the Houston Astros star, but that he won't.

Derek Jeter made an MLB career out of taking the high road, so no one expected him to trash Carlos Correa, a star in the league in which Jeter is an owner.

However, it's the way that Jeter responded, the subtle smile, as well as the way he looks when he says that what Correa said doesn't warrant a response makes one think that there's simply far too many rebuttals for the legendary shortstop to even waste his breath.

Look, Carlos Correa is an excellent MLB shortstop. Some might say he even has a point about Jeter, who had some fine defensive seasons but was generally seen as average, or below that, as a defender.

However, Derek Jeter is in the MLB Hall of Fame for a reason. He's won five World Series titles for the Yankees, won a World Series MVP, won an All-Star game MVP and made a ton of clutch plays in big games all while doing it in the rabid, New York market.

As great as Carlos Correa is, he's trying to get where Derek Jeter has already gone. It's no wonder that Jeter didn't dignify the criticism with a response.
