Celtic have had their fair share of injury problems in recent times. And considering the lack of depth in the squad, Ange Postecoglou as well as the players deserve a lot of credit for the position that the Hoops are in at the moment. It might not be ideal but it is certainly strong position to be in, and there is a lot of promise surrounding the future.

But even then, one has to say that Postecoglou could definitely do with a few more options to pick his team for, whether it involves making new signings in January or some of the struggling players finding their fitness.

One man who has had a lot of injury problems in recent seasons is James Forrest. He spent the majority of the season out on the sidelines last time around. And he has not played a lot of football this season till now either.

But there appears to be some positive news surrounding the situation. As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou told Celtic TV this week:

"“James is going well, he’s had a good two weeks of training.“He’s at really good levels now. Without pre-empting anything, knock on wood, he’s trained really well. He’s probably in the best condition he’s been since I got here.“I’m very pleased because I’ve been really keen to get him involved.”"

Celtic manager gives promising update on Forrest’s fitness

Not too long ago, Forrest was one of the first names on the Celtic team sheet. In recent seasons though, he has struggled to remain fit for a considerable length of time.

He has returned from the sidelines on a number of occasions only to go back there a short while afterwards.

One can only hope that he can return to full fitness soon and get a good run of football. While Celtic have two great options on the wings in the form of Jota and Liel Abada at the moment, there is not much depth beyond them.

As a result, both of them have had to play a lot of football and there is always the fear of fatigue setting in. Thus, the return of a reliable player like Forrest will be a huge boost for Celtic.
