Marc-Andre ter Stegen reportedly shut down the idea of leaving Barcelona and signing for Newcastle after he ‘didn’t even listen’ to the Premier League club’s offer.
Newcastle are fighting for Premier League safety and the club’s owners are expected to provide a much-needed cash injection in the upcoming transfer window.
Amanda Staveley has revealed Newcastle’s owners will use funds from the club’s war chest to back newly appointed manager Eddie Howe.

The Newcastle director helped broker the deal that allowed the Public Investment Fund (PIF) to complete its £300m acquisition of the Magpies.
Jesse Lingard, Philippe Coutinho and Eden Hazard have all been linked with a move to St James’ Park after the Saudi Arabia-backed takeover of Newcastle.
Ter Stegen was another name that emerged on Newcastle’s radar, but the Barcelona No 1 has his concerns over a transfer to the club.

According to Sport, the 29-year-old German star was ‘surprised’ by Newcastle’s interest in him.

However, Ter Stegen ‘didn’t even listen’ to the proposal that Newcastle prepared and had issues over the club’s lack of sporting infrastructure after the takeover.
Newcastle were reportedly prepared to break their club-record transfer fee with a £47m bid for the Germany international in the January window.
The Magpies are believed to be able to spend in excess of £200m without breaching Financial Fair Play regulations, according to reports.
Ter Stegen left Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014 and signed for Barcelona, where he initially battled with Claudio Bravo for the No 1 spot at the Camp Nou.

The Barcelona star, who is under contract until 2025, has lifted four La Liga titles, a Champions League, five Copa del Reys and a Spanish Super Cup.
Howe succeeded Steve Bruce as Newcastle manager earlier this month, with the Magpies level on points with 20th-place Norwich City.

However, the Newcastle manager will miss his first match in charge of the club after he tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.

“I’m very disappointed that I won’t be there with you all at St James’ Park tomorrow, but it is incredibly important that I follow the guidelines and self-isolate,” he told the club’s website.
“I’d like to reassure everyone that I feel fine, and while this is unwelcome news for me, I know it hasn’t derailed our preparations for what is an important game.
“I have been, and will be, in constant communication with my coaching team and the players, both tomorrow and during the week, and I know they will be giving everything on and off the pitch.”
Newcastle will host Brentford at St James’ Park on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm UK time.
