Coyotes close regular season at NDSU

FIRST SERVE
The South Dakota Coyotes (17-9, 14-3) will play its final regular season contest on Saturday at 11 a.m. against North Dakota State (12-17, 6-11).

THE COYOTES
Elizabeth Juhnke, who has reached double figures in kills in all but one match, leads the offensive attack at 3.77 kills per set. The junior averages 4.02 kills per set in league play while her 265 total kills in league play are most in the Summit.
Senior Sami Slaughter averages 2.62 kills per set while junior Madison Harms contributes 2.48 kills per set for a team that is averaging 12.99 kills per set while posting a .252 attack percentage in all matches.
Aimee Adams, a junior, adds 1.99 kills per set and senior Maddie Wiedenfeld 1.63 for an offense directed by senior setter Madison Jurgens who is at 10.24 assists per set. 
South Dakota ranks second in the Summit League in blocks per set (2.36) as Harms, who leads the Summit League in solo blocks with 23, is second in the Summit at 1.30 blocks per set. 
Harms also ranks second in the Summit League in hitting percentage at .400 while Wiedenfeld is ninth in the league at .305. 
Defensively, senior libero Lolo Weideman ranks second in the Summit League, averaging 4.58 digs per set while Juhnke is at 2.94 and Jurgens 2.21. 

LAST TIME OUT
South Dakota posted a three-set sweep on the road at North Dakota.
Slaughter had 13 kills to pace the offense while Juhnke recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 12 kills and 15 digs. Adams notched her career-high with 12 kills and hit .357.
Jurgens contributed 33 assists and a season-high 21 digs, recording 20 or more digs for the fifth time in her career.
Weideman had 21 digs as well, her seventh match this season of 20 or more digs. 

CAREER LISTS
Juhnke moved up to eighth on the career kills list with 1,243. Next on the list is Audrey Reeg (2013-16) with 1,266.
Jurgens sits third on the career assists list with 4,496, a total that ranks seventh in Summit League history. 
Jurgens sits third on the service aces list with 149 and is only seven away from Amber Kobus (2005-08) in second.
Weideman is in 8th on the career digs list with 1,309. Next on the list is Kari Hanafan (1991-94) with 1,357.

NORTH DAKOTA STATE
Ali Hinze, the Summit League Freshman of the Year in 2020, paces the Bison at 3.45 kills per set, which ranks fifth in the Summit League and adds 2.70 digs per set.
Syra Tanchin, who has reached double figures in kills in 11 of the team's 17 Summit League matches, is at 3.36 kills/set, sixth in the Summit. 
North Dakota State's offense, which averages 12.53 kills/set, also gets 2.06 kills/set from Michelle Glover. 
Freshman setter Raegen Reilly is averaging 8.79 assists per set.
Taylor Quan, a All-Summit League Freshman Team selection in 2020, has reached double figures in digs in eight of her last nine matches, and leads the team at 2.86 digs per set. Kaylee Hanger, a member of the 1,000 career digs club, is averaging 2.67 digs per set.
Glover is fifth in the Summit League at 1.09 blocks per set. 
North Dakota State coach Jennifer Lopez, a former Bison player, is in her fifth season. 

LAST TIME OUT
North Dakota State fell in four sets to South Dakota State at home.
Hinze had 15 kills, Tanchin 13 and Glover 10 for a Bison team that registered 49 kills but only a .140 attack percentage. 
Hinze recorded her 14th double-double on the season by ading 10 digs in the match to go with a season-high seven total blocks.
Reilly posted 35 assists and 11 digs while Quan had 17 digs and Ava Schmoll 13.

THE SERIES
South Dakota has won nine in a row in the series and leads in the Division I era 17-7. North Dakota State leads the all-time series dating back to 1978, 50-21.

UP NEXT
The Coyotes will host the Summit League Tournament inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center Nov. 25-27.
