Rockstar Games Apologizes For Release State of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy-The Definitive Edition, Bringing Back Original Versions to Store

Last month, Rockstar Games revealed what many had been waiting to hear, the announcement and launch of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy-The Definitive Edition which did release earlier this month. That excitement was quickly deflated when gamers played the remastered titles, as it was unfortunately filled with plethora of graphical issues, constant bugs, and story halting errors. This caused fans to go and look for the trilogy in their original form, which was a fruitless venture as the company had delisted them from all digital stores. Rockstar has come out and acknowledged that the title “did not launch in a state that meets our own standards of quality” and has promised to implement fixes and patches to remedy the situation, as well as re-release the original three titles back onto the digital platforms.

According to Rockstar, the original versions of the three titles will be returned to the digital storefronts as a special bundle. For those who have purchased Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy-The Definitive Edition, you’ll be able to grab these three classics at no extra charge. This special offer will stay until June, 2022, which at that point, and if you want to own the games in their original state, you will need to actually purchase them. As we already mentioned, Rockstar pulled these classic entries with little to no warning just prior to the and Theft Auto: The Trilogy-The Definitive Edition launch.

Thankfully it appears that Rockstar Games is taking this seriously. It’s not often that you see the company take this stance, but it also goes to show that they are committed to their perfectionist development process, and that more than likely did not take place when remastering these three titles. Hopefully they’ll start patching in updates soon, but in the meantime, we still have the original entries in their uncut, and unadulterated forms to enjoy.
