FREEHOLD — Multiple people were injured Friday night after a two-car accident in Freehold, fire officials said.

One vehicle crashed into the former Freehold Inn on County Route 67 at about 6:28 p.m., emergency personnel said.

Officials could not immediately confirm the number of the people involved or injured in the accident or the extent of their injuries.

One vehicle came to rest on the front porch of the former inn, while the other vehicle remained in the middle of the road.

The extent of damage to the building was not immediately known Friday night.

Fire and rescue crews responded to the scene. Crews worked to remove all passengers from their vehicles.

Paramedics examined the injured passengers before they were brought to area hospitals.

Route 32 was open to one lane of alternating traffic until the crash was cleared.

County Route 67 eastbound was closed.

The town code enforcement officer was requested to the scene.

Both cars were towed from the scene.

Greene County 911 sent Freehold and Greenville fire companies and Greenville Ambulance to the intersection of Route 32 and county Route 67 after receiving reports of a two-car accident and one of the vehicles had struck a building.

New York State Police assisted with the investigation.

Cairo Ambulance was requested under mutual aid.
