(670 The Score) The White Sox have purchased the contracts of right-hander Jason Bilous and left-hander Bennett Sousa, they announced Friday.
Bilous, 24, posted a 5.76 ERA in 79 2/3 innings in 20 starts split between Class-A and Double-A in 2021. He also struck out 11.97 batters per nine innings. Bilous has a 5.13 ERA in three seasons in the White Sox’s farm system. He was selected by Chicago in the 13th round of the 2018 MLB amateur draft.
Sousa, 26, had a 3.61 ERA in 47 1/3 innings in 41 relief outings split across Double-A and Triple-A in 2021. He also struck out 13.5 batters per nine innings. He has 2.56 ERA in three minor league seasons. He was selected in the 11th round of the 2018 MLB amateur draft.
Bilous and Sousa are now protected in the upcoming Rule 5 draft.
The White Sox’s 40-man roster now sits at 35 players.
