Demon Slayer Theme Gets Fiery Guitar Cover by Japanese Ambassador

It's no secret that the new Ambassador and Consul General of Japan in New York Kanji Yamanouchi is a huge fan of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. So it's no surprise that the Japanese Ambassador had an awesome treat for his fellow fans at Anime NYC. Yamanouchi has just shared an amazing guitar cover of the Demon Slayer opening theme Gurenge by LiSA!

Anime NYC finally returned this weekend and what better way to kick off the event than with a special message from the Japanese Ambassador and Demon Slayer superfan Kanji Yamanouchi? In the video, Yamanouchi states that Japanese pop culture is an important bond between the American people and Japanese people. To celebrate the return of Anime NYC, Yamanouchi said he wants to play a song, cheekily adding "maybe you've heard it before."

Yamanouchi's cover of Gurenge starts out with him on the piano along with a companion dressed as Nezuko. However, it doesn't take long before the Japanese Ambassador throws on Tanjiro Kamado's kimono and shreds on an electric guitar.

The cover of Gurenge is the perfect way to kick off Anime NYC 2021 and fans are loving every second of it. It also has everyone hyped up for Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 6, which will premiere this Sunday.

While the Japanese Ambassador made sure fans wouldn't forget about Gurenge, another Demon Slayer theme is enjoying a truly awesome record. Akeboshi, the opening theme for Season 2's Mugen Train arc, has just been announced as one of the Songs of the Year in the 63rd Japan Record Awards. It is also recognized as the most downloaded song digitally with 75,630 downloads by a female artist in its first week of release.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 6 is titled Akaza and is scheduled to premiere on FujiTV on November 21, 2021, at 11:15 PM JST.
