In this Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl nature guide, we’ll explain how to check natures to learn about your Pokémon. Understanding a companion’s attitude is important when breeding to further increase stats. These dispositions also affect how they respond to berries and which flavor of Poffins they like.

How to check natures

Once you’ve captured a Pokémon, you can easily check its nature:

1. Press X to enter your menu
2. Select Pokémon
3. Choose a creature
4. Select Check Summary
5. Navigate to the second tab that looks like a blue sheet of paper

The first line describes your Pokémon’s nature, highlighting it in red text. Each creature’s nature determines its attitude, which affects a few aspects of your partners:

• Each nature increases a certain stat by 10% when leveling up
• Each nature decreases a stat by 10% when leveling up
• Each nature determines which flavor of berry and Poffin they like
