Xbox Launches Cloud Gaming on Consoles

Xbox is having a great week as they celebrate their 20th birthday. They’ve made a ton of announcements like the last 70+ games becoming backward compatible and the early launch of the Halo Infinite multiplayer experience. Now, they’ve brought Xbox Cloud Gaming to console players.

Now, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One owners can play Xbox Game Pass titles on their console without the need to download them. Of course, this will require a decent internet connection, so downloading a game you’re really enjoying is going to provide the best experience, but this is a great option to allow you to try games without waiting to download them. In addition, when you’re invited to play a game with friends and you don’t have it installed, you can instantly jump in with them instead of waiting for potential hours.

Also, Xbox One users get an extra bonus. Cloud gaming will allow Xbox One users to play Series X|S exclusives like The Medium and The Riftbreaker now with Microsoft Flight Simulator being added in early 2022. You won’t be able to download them if you like them, but you’re not being as left out as before.

Xbox Cloud Gaming on consoles is launching in 25 regions with Brazil coming soon. Also, a Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required to enjoy the feature. Cloud Gaming will roll out throughout November to smaller subsets of Xbox gamers and eventually scale to all gamers over the coming weeks.

I have to say. In recent years, Xbox has really impressed me with their approach to gaming. Game Pass is an incredible value, they’ve really been pushing for backward compatibility, and they’ve been very supportive and open to cross-play from what I’ve seen. This new Cloud Gaming experience is another great service that they’re offering that will be a great option for many gamers.
