Alex McAulay on Demonic Spirit in A House on the Bayou [Exclusive Interview]

A House on the Bayou from Alex McAulay

A getaway in the swamplands is probably the least likely idea for a vacation. Who knows what lurks in the area that may include mosquitos, crocodiles, or perhaps something more nefarious.

From director and writer Alex McAulay, A House on the Bayou is a terrifying film about a family staying at a mansion with a certain visit from unknown neighbors.

The film stars Angela Sarafyan (Westworld), Paul Schneider (Goodbye to All That, Parks & Recreation), Lia McHugh (Marvel’s Eternals, The Lodge), and Jacob Lofland (Mud, Maze Runner).

Here is the official synopsis:

In an effort to reconnect and mend their relationship, Jessica and John Chambers (Angela Sarafyan, Paul Schneider) seek an idyllic getaway with their daughter Ann (Lia McHugh) to a remote mansion in rural Louisiana. When suspiciously friendly neighbors show up for dinner uninvited, the weekend takes a sinister turn as the fragile family bond is tested and dark secrets come to light.

In 2017, he wrote the coming of age story Flower that starred Zoey Deutch and Kathryn Hahn.

A House on the Bayou is now playing on EPIX and available for digital purchase via Paramount Home Entertainment.
