Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender Will Share The Same Next-Gen Technology as The Mandalorian


Now that Netflix's Cowboy Bebop is available to stream, fans are looking forward to other live-action adaptations of their favorite animated shows, including the classic Japanese shonen series Yu Yu Hakusho and One Piece. Fans are also excited to see the live-action adaptation of Nickelodeon's Avatar: The Last Airbender, which recently started production. It turns out that the highly-anticipated Netflix series has something big in common with Disney's The Mandalorian.

According to Twitter outlet Avatar News, the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is using the same technology that helped the bring the epic story of the Star Wars universe to life in The Mandalorian.

The outlet revealed that Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender series will be filmed in a new, custom-built facility featuring a 23,000-square-foot virtual production volume. It looks like Netflix and the production team are doing their best to make sure the beloved Nickelodeon franchise is getting the best live-action treatment it deserves.

The series will star Gordon Cormier as Anng, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko. Netflix has also announced that the show has added Daniel Dae Kim to play Fire Lord Ozai, and Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Kim’s Convenience) as Uncle Iroh. Lim Kay Siu (Anna and The King) will play Gyatso, an Air Nomad monk who's a father figure to Aang.

As for The Mandalorian, Disney+ still hasn't confirmed when Season 3 of the show will premiere yet, but fans are already excited to see this winter's Book of Boba Fett.
