For the final leg of a quick two-game road trip, the Colorado Avalanche will face off against the NHL's 32nd expansion franchise, the Seattle Kraken. This will be the first matchup between the two teams in league history. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. MT at Climate Pledge Arena.
The Avs previously picked up two points during their contest Wednesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, resulting in a 4-2 victory on the road. Nazem Kadri and Mikko Rantanen grabbed one goal and two assists each. Gabriel Landeskog and Cale Makar also tallied a goal and an assist each, and Devon Toews posted one assist.

The Avs will meet the Kraken again on home ice Jan. 8 and one more time in Seattle, wrapping up the series on April 20.

COLORADO-SEATTLE CONNECTIONS

Seattle right wing Joonas Donskoi played in Colorado for two seasons before being selected by the Kraken in its expansion draft... Seattle goalie Philipp Grubauer played three seasons for the Avalanche, eventually signing with the Kraken this summer as a free agent for its inaugural season.
HISTORY
This will be the first ever matchup between the Avalanche and the Kraken. The next and final regular-season matchup between these clubs will take place in Denver on January 12.
ROSTER REPORT
Nicolas Aube-Kubel, recently claimed off waivers, played in Vancouver, spending around 10 and a half minutes on ice.
INJURY REPORT
Nathan MacKinnon continues to be out for three weeks due to a lower body injury. J.T. Compher will miss a month due to an upper body injury. Rookie Bowen Byram remains in concussion protocol and will rejoin the group when he feels he is ready. Martin Kaut will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, due to an upper body injury. Stefan Matteau continues to be out for weeks rehabbing a lower-body injury he suffered on Oct. 16th. Pavel Francouz remains week-to-week basis.
SCOUTING THE KRAKEN
The Kraken is currently in the middle of a six-game homestand, having already faced the Anaheim Ducks, Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks. Seattle will be seeking to snap a five-game losing streak against Colorado. The homestand will conclude with contests against the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes. The Kraken's record currently stands at 4-11-1.
The Kraken convert 12.5 percent of the time on power play, 31st in the NHL. On penalty kill, they hold the line at an 81.3 percent clip, 19th in the league.
(OPPOSING) PLAYER TO WATCH: Jordan Eberle
Right wing Jordan Eberle leads Seattle in goals and points overall. Eberle currently holds a six-game point streak with the Kraken, and he posted Seattle's first hat trick in franchise history on November 4 against the Buffalo Sabres.
