SAN ANTONIO -- A woman has died following a major crash on the city's West Side Friday morning.
The crash happened around 6:25 a.m. at the 6100 block of U.S. 90 Eastbound, past Leon Creek.
The victim of the crash is identified as a 40-year-old woman.
According to San Antonio police, the woman driving a gray Ford F-150 westbound on the highway when for an unknown reason, she drifted off the roadway onto the left hand improved shoulder.
The woman hit the guard rail and crashed into a TXDot highway signage fixture.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.
The investigation is still ongoing.
The Texas Dept. of Transportation and San Antonio police say both east and westbound lanes of Highway 90 will be closed between Military Dr. and Callaghan Rd. for most of the rest of the day.
Officials urge drivers to seek an alternate route. Only the access roads will be available to drivers.
