Jesse Lingard's days as a Manchester United player appear to be numbered after rejecting a new contract offer, and is not set for a move back to West Ham United.

Lingard was tipped to make a big impact back at Old Trafford following a successful loan spell with West Ham last season, which saw him score 9 goals in 16 appearances as the Hammers finished sixth and qualify for the Europa League.

The attacking midfielder has since been reminiscing over happier times at the London Stadium after posting a picture of himself celebrating in a West Ham shirt on his Instagram story.

The 28-year-old is now expected to return to the east London club in January, in a deal worth £10million according to The Sun.

Lingard has not made a Man-United related Instagram post since 29th September and it appears that he is now ready to sever ties with his boyhood club.

He is yet to make a Premier League start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this season, and was an unused substitute in the harrowing 5-0 and 2-0 defeats against Liverpool and Manchester City respectively earlier this month.

But the man from Warrington has made an impact when called upon, by scoring the decisive second goal in a 2-1 win on his return to the London Stadium, as well as in a 4-1 victory over Newcastle United.

The club's academy graduate has won four trophies during time at Old Trafford, including the FA Cup, Europa League, League Cup and the Community Shield.

Lingard proved to be a man for the big occasion, after scoring an extra-time winner in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, and in the 3-2 League Cup final win against Southampton a year later.

In total, Lingard has made 218 appearances for the club, scoring 35 goals and registering 21 assists.
