CINCINNATI (WKRC) — Google is warning two billion Chrome users to update the browser after discovering 25 new threats in just the past two weeks.
Seven of the 25 vulnerabilities in Chrome 96 are labeled "high level" threats, according to a blog post published on Monday.
Windows, macOS and Linux users are all affected by this threat and need to take immediate action, according to Google.
On Wednesday, Chrome learned of more issues from users, including that the new version breaks access to major social media sites like Instagram.
Users receive the message: “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” When pages reload, they are often missing key elements like images, embedded videos and pages even render in the wrong color.
Google has released a new update for Chrome, version 96.0.4664.45. However, the rollout may take days or even weeks.
Forbes says to check if you are protected, navigate to Settings <>> Help <>> About Google Chrome. If your Chrome browser is listed as 96.0.4664.45 or higher, you are safe. If the update is not yet available for your browser, make sure you check regularly for the new version.
Once you update, you must restart your browser.
