You really got me thinking about perspective.

I don't know if you remember me, but I certainly remember you. I don't know if you did this for anyone else that day or if you do it often. I'm willing to bet that if you do this often, you put a smile on a lot of people's faces.

As I pulled up to put my order in, I could see that you were busy with the customer ahead of me taking their money and making change. Despite being busy with that you asked me what I wanted.

You voiced bounced around a bit, but I didn't think anything of it.

I gave you my order, and that's when I heard you musically respond with your follow up questions and my total. You were gently singing your job and I couldn't help, but smile.

At the window, I asked you how you were doing and you said, "Makin' it."

Although you were smiling, it felt like there was something more going on. I didn't want to pry, but I did ponder it long after I downed that number six with a Sprite.

Could it be that you needed to sing a bit to keep you spirits high?

I would hate to assume your situation, but if by chance there is something deeper going on, there are a few things I want you to know. First of all, I am praying for your situation. I pray that God rains down blessings on your life and provides for you in ways you never could have dreamed.

Second off, you amaze me. Not many people can take a bad day or a tough time and turn it around like that. Many people take their issues and use other people as their punching bag. It's almost as if they need someone to blame, so they blame everyone else.

But you chose to spread happiness.

If I'm right about this, you chose to bless others regardless of your current conditions. You saw the bigger picture. Personally, as a believer, I believe that you chose to do God's work because He is good always.

Thank you for that gift, whether you meant it or not. Thank you for reminding me that giving is also receiving. And that we have more control over our days than we think we do. We can control our thoughts, reactions and actions.

I apologize if I read too far into our brief encounter, but I feel so blessed by it and just had to share.
