Hopkinsville Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

A Hopkinsville man was charged with assaulting a police officer after a report of an unknown person on a porch on Walnut Street Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 50-year-old Trevor Scales had thrown a chair off the porch into the driveway and when they arrived he had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. He allegedly would not follow the officer’s commands and hit an officer in the mouth with his arm and used physical force to prevent officers from putting handcuffs on him.

He is charged with third-degree assault of an officer, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
