6-year-old, two adults shot during road rage incident on busy Alabama street

A 6-year-old boy and two adults were injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon on a busy Alabama city street.

Officials from the Birmingham Police Department say the shooting happened shortly before 4 p.m. on 4th Avenue South in Birmingham. The shooting is being described as a road rage incident between two vehicles.

The victims’ vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire and then crashed into a pole, news sources report. The city’s gunshot detection system indicated over ten rounds were fired.

Authorities said the 6-year-old boy was taken to Children’s of Alabama with life-threatening injuries but was later reported to be in stable condition.

Two adults were taken to a Birmingham area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Another adult who was in the car that was being targeted during the shooting was unharmed.

Officers are looking for one suspect they said is armed and dangerous. The suspect was driving a white sedan.
