Giants' Kenny Golladay frustrated with lack of touchdowns

When the New York Giants signed wide receiver Kenny Golladay in free agency, big things were expected from their new No. 1 target.

With Golladay’s 6-foot-4 frame and previous track record, he was brought to make big plays and be an elite red zone target for quarterback Daniel Jones. Inking Golladay was a move that had many believing the Giants would turn a corner this season.

Now, nine games into the season, with the Giants sitting at 3-6 and Golladay has just 19 receptions for 310 yards and not a single touchdown.

With Golladay having high expectations for himself, the Giants’ receiver is frustrated with the lack of production.

“Me personally, of course I want to set goals and put how many touchdowns I want. Is it frustrating? For me, yeah, just because I haven’t gotten in the (end) zone yet. But at the end of the day, as long as I’m making catches to help us get touchdowns, I’m okay,” Golladay told reporters on Thursday.

Golladay has appeared in just six games, missing three games due to injury. He was also unavailable for most of the loss against the Dallas Cowboys where his knee injury took place.

Golladay has, of course, been hit with the injury bug throughout his career which possibly had some teams reluctant to sign him this past offseason. However, after doing their due diligence, Big Blue decided to ink him anyway.

The Giants’ play-calling needs to be adjusted if they are going to get the former Detroit Lions receiver going to help Big Blue move to a playoff run. Golladay and offensive coordinator Jason Garrett allegedly exchanged words on the sideline earlier this season over exactly that.

Golladay has certainly shown flashes of why Big Blue signed him to a lucrative deal when he has been given the opportunity. If they are going to make a late season push for a wildcard spot in the NFC, they will have to have their big free agent acquisition more involved in the offense.
