When Luis Suarez bit Branislav Ivanovic that extraordinarily was NOT the first time he sunk his teeth into an opponent. Introducing Otman Bakkal.

Suarez, who was playing for Ajax at the time, shocked the football world when he bit Bakkal during a league match in the Netherlands.

In November 2010, the Uruguayan embroiled himself in controversy after chomping the Dutchman's shoulder in a shocking exchange.

Crazily, though, he got away with any immediate sanction despite being right in front of the match referee.

However, Suarez was subsequently handed a seven-match ban by the Dutch FA and fined by his club.

A few years later, Liverpool moved in and snapped up Suarez, securing his services in 2010.

And, of course, he hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons in April 2013 after biting Ivanovic during an infamous battle between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Just like in 2010, his bite went unnoticed but he was slapped with an even lengthier ban than the first time around.

Biting the Serbian defender earned him a 10-game ban.

Bakkal couldn't believe Suarez bit another player following their clash.

Speaking in 2013, he said: "I saw it and it was unbelievable.

"It's something you can never imagine happening on a pitch. It happened once already.

"At first, I thought maybe it was an accident but, apparently, he loses it sometimes. I don't know what to say.

"I thought he meant it when he said sorry. I think he wants to win so badly that he loses his mind sometimes but afterwards he comes to his senses.

"I am a footballer as well and this affects all of us, but for me it's more important to leave all this behind me.

"It doesn't belong on the pitch. It was the end of him in Holland. Now we just have to wait and see what the FA does - and then what his future will be in England."
