UPDATE NOVEMBER 18, 2021:
A 28-year-old Winner woman was killed in a Saturday (Nov. 13, 2021) afternoon one-vehicle crash east of Winner.
Preliminary information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates that a 2012 Ford Edge was eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it went off the roadway, into the north ditch and hit a tree. Kari DeMers, the driver, was thrown from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation

A 28-year-old female died Saturday afternoon (2:43pm Nov. 13, 2021) in a one-vehicle crash four miles east of Winner.
The name of the person involved is not yet being released.
Preliminary information from the South Dakota’s Highway Patrol indicates a 2012 Ford Edge was eastbound on US Highway 18 when it went off the roadway, into the north ditch and hit a tree. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Highway Patrol is part of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
