Capcom has announced that its next-gen only title, Pragmata has been delayed by a year and is now releasing sometime in 2023.

As an apology, Capcom released a 30-second video that just features a close zoom of one of the game’s characters, an unnamed little girl who doesn’t need a spacesuit to breathe in space. As the video goes on, the camera zooms out which shows her holding a sign that says ‘2022->2023′ and ‘Sorry :(‘ which is so wholesome that you can’t be mad at. Capcom’s development division head, Yoichi Egawa revealed during the company’s annual report that the sci-fi adventure is “making steady progress on its development.”

“Our team is hard at work on the project, but to ensure this will be an unforgettable adventure, we’ve decided to shift the release window to 2023. In the meantime, we have a brand-new artwork to share with you. Thank you for your patience,” Egawa said on the publisher’s website.

Pragmata was originally announced for 2022 which was revealed at Sony’s PS5 reveal showcase back in June 2020. The event gave PlayStation players a look at games that were coming to the PS5 in the near to distant future, which ranged from indie to AAA-developed games like the upcoming Capcom title. Pragmata is being developed in Capcom’s RE Engine and is set on the moon in a dystopian feature, the original trailer featured an astronaut, a cyborg cat hologram, and the previously mentioned little girl.

When it was initially revealed, Pragmata was mistaken as Hideo Kojima production but is actually the brainchild of newly hired young employees. One hope of the project is to give new hires on the project a “chance to acquire know-how and skills through hands-on experience in the field as they are assigned to the development of popular IPs and major titles.”

Pragmata is set to launch sometime in 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
